The mind controls the body obviously! Without the signals of the neurotransmitters in the brain, our body parts won't move or perform it's function. But since this is philisophy I would still stick with the mind because the mind is the control center of the body.

So, Hurmat under your definition the mind is "neurotransmitters in the brain". Isn't this simply the body, however? So the body controls the body (no mind)...?

Lol, ummm i'm kinda confused my self lol. Well taking Descartes view, he said thatif you are wiped of your memories, the only conscious part that exists is that your still alive. This proves the mind controls the body, Moreover if you think about it,
history is full of examples of people having their bodies controlled just through the power of the mind, the power of belief.

For example, using an ancient yoga/meditation technique known as g Tum-mo, Tibetan monks have demonstrated to scientists their ability to raise their own body temperature and hold it high enough that they are able to dry out wet cold sheets wrapped around their body, even in a chilly room. Where most people would start shivering, these monks actually began to emit steam as their bodies dried out one wet cold sheet after another. Other monks have demonstrated the ability to change the temperatures of different areas of their skin.

I think the mind rules the body but the mind needs the processes of the body to function. It is a give and take situation. At points the mind can rule the body by sheer will power but at other times, the body can deny the power of the mind.

Under either of your explanations then, what is the definition of the mind?

The faculty of thinking, reasoning, and applying knowledge: Follow your mind, not your heart.

Our minds are what make us different from animals, reason and logic are unique to homo sapien sapiens (humans) and this isn't what controls the body literally. Literally, the anatomical brain controls the body, but the reason behind our actions are due to our mind.
